John Bourchier, 2nd Baron Berners was an English writer and statesman, best known for his simple, fresh, and energetic translation (vol. 1, 1523; vol. 2, 1525) from the French of Jean Froissart’s Chroniques. Berners’ active political and military career started early when at the age of 15 he was.

John Bourchier, 1st Baron Berners, KG (died May 1474) was an English peer. Bourchier was the fourth son of William Bourchier, 1st Count of Eu, and his wife Anne of Woodstock, Countess of Buckingham, daughter of Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester.
The first John Bourchier was appointed a Justice of Common Pleas on 31 May 1321 and confirmed in office by the young Edward III in 1327.12 When he died in 1329, his eldest son Robert had already begun following in his footsteps; he served as a justice of oyer et terminer in the early 1330s.
