Gregory Spawton (born May 17, 1965) [1] is an English musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter and founder of English progressive rock band Big Big Train .
The roots of Big Big Train go back to 1981 in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham in England, when Gregory's older brother Nigel Spawton (drums) joined with Ed Serafinas (vocals), Pete McDonald (bass), Steve Lugg (guitar/vocals) and Tim McCarty (guitar/vocals) in the new wave outfit known as Big Big Train.
Nick first met Big Big Train’s Greg Spawton in 2006 at Aubitt Studios in Southampton. Nick performed drums on two songs on Big Big Train’s 2007 album, The Difference Machine and, after recording all drums on The Underfall Yard, joined Big Big Train as a full member in 2010.
