The Effigies' original lineup consisted of John Kezdy (vocals), Earl "Oil" Letiecq (guitar), Paul Zamost (bass) and Steve Economou (drums). In 1984 Robert O’Connor replaced Letiecq as lead guitarist and this second lineup released two LPs, Fly on a Wire, and Ink.
26 de ene. de 2024 · In a 1981 interview in Noise 6, Kezdy stated he met Paul Zamost at Neo, and along with a mysterious singer named Norman, teamed up with Economou and started practicing. Norman was unceremoniously canned after a few practices, and John took over on vocals and guitar, although by his own admission he was an inadequate guitarist.
The Effigies emerged in 1980 as one of the first punk bands to call Chicago home. Consisting of John Kezdy (vocals), Paul Zamost (bass), Earl Letiecq (guitar), and Steve Economou (drums), they were included on the early Chicago comp. Busted at Oz, named for the club that was the epicenter of the Midwestern scene.
Paul Zamost is the original bassist for The Effigies. He played with The Effigies in 1980 - 1986 again in the 90's for some re union shows and reunited with 2 original members Kezdy and Economou in 04', They added guitarist Robert McNaughton and released the LP "Reside" in 05'.

Formed in either late 1979 or early 1980 in the suburb of Evanston, IL, the original line up included vocalist John Kezdy, drummer Steve Economou, bassist Paul Zamost, and guitarist Earl Letiecq (aka "Oil"). Their vinyl debut consisted of two tracks on the "Busted At Oz" compilation in 1981.
Zamost, the youngest of three, was raised in a very musical household, and his father Paul Zamost is a founding member of Chicago punk band The Effigies. Zamost attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has a BFA for illustration . Music career. YouTube.
