13 de feb. de 2022 · George Hay, 16th Earl of Erroll was born on 13 May 1767. He was the son of James Boyd and Isabella Carr. He married Elizabeth Jemima Blake, daughter of Joseph Blake and Honoria Daly, on 25 January 1790 in a childless marriage. He succeeded to the title of 16th Lord Hay and to the title of 16th Earl of Erroll on 3 July 1778.
The then Earl of Lauderdale had questioned George, the 16th Earl of Erroll's right to vote at an election of the peers of Scotland. One of the objections made to the title was that the title of Earl of Erroll was claimed through a nomination.

William George Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll, 1st Baron Kilmarnock KT (1801–1846) married Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence (1801 1856) illegitimate daughter of King William IV by his mistress Dora Bland ("Mrs Jordan").
No Hay returned alive from that battle, which claimed no fewer than 87 lairds and gentlemen of the name. George, seventh Earl (d. 1574) was a committed supporter of Mary, Queen of Scots and acted as her Lieutenant for central Scotland.
