Jeff Erna is an American drummer, from Boston, Massachusetts, most notable for being the original drummer for the punk bands Dropkick Murphys and Street Dogs.
In 2002, McColgan decided he could no longer stay away from music and formed Street Dogs. They first recorded a seven song-demo, which feature McColgan along with his former Dropkick Murphys bandmate Jeff Erna on drums, Rob Guidotti on guitar and Bill Close on bass. They signed with CrossCheck Records in 2003, with Michelle Paulhus now on bass.

It was at this time former lead singer Mike McColgan formed Street Dogs, along with another old Dropkick Murphys bandmate, Jeff Erna. This group debuted with Savin Hill in 2003 and it featured Al Barr and Ken Casey performing with Street Dogs for its popular tune, “Stand Up.”
The original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Mike McColgan, bassist/vocalist Ken Casey, guitarist Rick Barton, and drummer Jeff Erna, who was replaced by Matt Kelly after about a year.
