Muriel MacDonagh (née Gifford; 18 December 1884 – 9 July 1917) an Irish nationalist, and member of Inghinidhe na hÉireann. Her husband Thomas MacDonagh, was one of the signees of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, which led to the Easter Rebellion.

9 de jul. de 2016 · On 9 th July 1917, just over a year following the execution of Thomas MacDonagh for his part in the Easter Rising, the MacDonagh family would be rocked by another tragedy with the sudden death of Thomas’ widow, Muriel that would leave both their children suddenly orphaned.
The one that was remembered by the Skerries Historical Society for their June talk was the death of Muriel MacDonagh, widow of Thomas MacDonagh, who was executed by the British Army for his part in the 1916 Rising. Thomas was one of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.
4 de jul. de 2021 · It was on 9 th July 1917 that Muriel, widow of Thomas MacDonagh died tragically in a drowning accident at Skerries, Co. Dublin. In the time since the execution of her husband she had bravely maintained family life with their two children Donagh, (aged four) and Barbara (aged two).
