Jepson Art Institute, founded in 1945 by artist Herbert Jepson, was an art school located at 2861 West 7th Street in the Westlake district of central Los Angeles, California. It flourished from 1947 to 1953 — becoming an important center for experimental figure drawing, art theory and printmaking.
Jepson Art Institute was founded by artist Herbert Jepson in 1945 at this location in downtown Los Angeles. Jepson had taught at Chouinard Art Institute since the early 1930s, but he decided to form his own school whose specialties included figure drawing, art theory, and printmaking.
Herbert Jepson (June 6, 1908 – July 2, 1993) was an American artist and designer. He founded the Jepson Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1945; among his students were Larry Bell and Joe Goode. He was the father of poet Elena Karina Byrne .

10 de jul. de 2018 · Construction of the Jepson Center for the Arts began in July 2001, and the ceremonial groundbreaking was held on October 15 of that year. The Jepson Center, which opened in 2005, offers new benefits to the museum’s patrons, the local community, and the thousands of annual visitors to Savannah.
