He also began working as a film composer in 1998, writing the score for Belgian director Patrice Toye's debut film, Rosie. Parish's score won the Jury Special Appreciation prize at the 1999 Bonn Film & TV Music Biennale.
The recurring motif of juddering, echo-laden guitars, gets under your skin and into your head after a while, an ideal accompaniment to the internal fantasy world of the estranged eponymous heroine of the film, though it's familiar territory for Parish, who might easily have written an album like this with or without a movie in mind.
