The Desert Sheik is a 1924 American silent drama film directed by Tom Terriss and starring Wanda Hawley, Nigel Barrie and Pedro de Cordoba. British star Stewart Rome also appears in a supporting role. The story is inspired by the 1898 novel The Tragedy of the Korosko by Arthur Conan Doyle.

[1] [2] She is best known for The Sheik, which became an international best seller in 1921. The Sheik is credited with beginning a revival of the "desert romance" genre of romantic fiction.
Summaries. A charming Arabian sheik becomes infatuated with an adventurous, modern-thinking Englishwoman and abducts her to his home in the Saharan desert. Sheik Ahmed (Valentino) desperately desires fiesty British socialite Diana (Ayres), so he abducts her and carries her off to his luxurious desert tent-palace.
Against her brother's wishes, she is planning a month-long trip into the desert, escorted only by natives. When Diana goes to the local casino, she is informed it has been appropriated for the evening by an important sheik , and that none but Arabs may enter.
