31 de ene. de 2018 · In January 1957, a Douglas DC-7B collided with a U.S. Air Force F-89 jet over the San Fernando Valley. Eight people were killed, including three students at Pacoima Junior High School.
Seconds later, the hurtling wreckage slammed into the grounds of the Pacoima Congregational Church and the adjacent playground of Pacoima Junior High School, killing all four Douglas crewmen.
Pacoima Middle School opened as Pacoima Junior High School on September 19, 1954. Construction was not yet completed, so it was necessary to hold classes on the campus of San Fernando Junior High School. After the winter holidays, however, the school moved to its present site.
On January 31, 1957, a Douglas DC-7B operated by Douglas Aircraft Company was involved in a mid-air collision and crashed into the schoolyard of Pacoima Middle School, then named Pacoima Junior High School.
