Hace 5 días · In mid-1980 Dexys Midnight Runners sprang from more-or-less nowhere (aka Birmingham) to a number one hit in the UK with "Geno" - a rousing soul song with a great brass section and Kevin Rowland's - distinctive? - way of singing.
Hace 2 días · By 1981 Dexys were broke again and rehearsing in a disused warehouse. Kevin Rowland (inspired by a Van Morrison LP cover) went away and re-invented the band. This was the Dexys of pony-tails and funny little moustaches. They had a strict exercise regime, rejected drugs and drank lots and lots of tea.
