The elected candidate Stephen Timms won by a majority of 12,863 votes. Mr. Timms secured 19,570 votes in the poll, ahead of the Independents candidate Tahir Mirza in second place, who received 6,707 votes.

Hace 6 días · East Ham became part of West Ham poor law union in 1836. In 1848 the vestry resolved to establish a local board of health, but this was not done. A 'local sanitary committee' apparently existed in 1853, when the vestry referred to it the question of improving roads and drainage.

In 1086 the manor of Ham held by Robert Gernon, and formerly by Levred, which probably comprised most of East Ham, contained 7 hides. (fn. 1) The arable land was being cultivated by 16 plough-teams—six more than in 1066.
