14 de jun. de 2024 · John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore (1732 – 25 February 1809) was a British peer and colonial governor. He was the son of William Murray, 3rd Earl of Dunmore, and his wife Catherine (née Murray). He is best remembered as the last royal governor of the Colony of Virginia.

On the serious side, Lord Dunmore was worried about escalating violence between Native Americans and settlers. When Daniel Boone’s son and others in his party were killed and dismembered in an attack, Lord Dunmore believed he had to act to protect citizens.
