He was highly regarded for his atonal solos on synthesizer, an instrument that he virtually pioneered in jazz.

17 de sept. de 2024 · In 1961 Sun Ra took off from Chicago -- where he had established the Arkestra, his dedicated ensemble and the vehicle for his mission to better the planet -- and with a scaled-down version of the band he landed in New York. Their first recording session was in Newark in October of that year.

The seven-track record spans performances by the legendary jazz artist and his band from 1971 through to 1990, and aims to showcase the full range of Sun Ra’s work, from “noisy odysseys” to “bluesy songwriting”.

The album is performed with his Astro Infinity Arkestra and it was recorded in 1959, during the same sessions that birthed Jazz in Silhouette and during their residency in Chicago.

Kingdom Of Discipline is scheduled for arrival in October and groups seven recordings from the seminal pianist-bandleader, often flanked by members of his fabled Arkestra ensemble and captured over two decades between 1971 and 1990.
