The Rita and Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing cross-trains students in all areas of dramatic writing across the mediums of Playwriting, Screenwriting and Episodic writing. Both our BFA and MFA programs are small, intimate communities with the unique advantage of being part of a major university in the world's most vibrant city.
A creative writing sample is required. It should not exceed 25 double-spaced pages for fiction and nonfiction applicants and 10 single-spaced pages for poetry applicants. The JD/MBA dual degree comprises a total of 122 credits. Students must complete 51 credits at NYU Stern and 71 credits at the School of Law, making it possible to complete the degree requirements for both programs in four years of full-time study—as opposed to the five years typically required to complete both degrees independently.
