Be sure to get the darker Play It Loud screen lens. But I understand that it's a lot of shipping money to pay for a piece of plastic. (or glass) I have a red DMG Play It Loud (with original battery cover =P ) and yeah, it's definitely worth backlighting and replacing the screen in my opinion. I also pro-sounded mine, which was a huge plus.

When I modded my first DMG-01, I showed it to them, and they were real chuffed with it. They said they didn't like emulators, and missed playing the games.
