As part of the work of the Worshipful Company, a school was founded in Hackney for the sons of middle class gentlemen. This school, The Grocers’ Company School, was handed over to the London County Council and changed its name to Hackney Downs School, which was eventually closed in 1995. The building has since been demolished.
Following the LTN’s introduction, overall traffic and air quality levels in the Hackney Downs area have improved, with traffic down by 40% inside the low traffic neighbourhood, and air quality improvements at 84 of 118 locations. 29 de jul. de 1995 · I WAS a pupil at Hackney Downs school in east London from 1945 to 1949. It was then a boys' grammar school and we got there by passing the scholarship, which was later called the 11-plus.
