2 de jun. de 2023 · Pere Ubu is an experimental rock music group formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1975. Despite many long-term band members, singer David Thomas is the only constant. The group is named after Père Ubu ("father Ubu"), the protagonist of Ubu Roi ("Ubu, the King"), a play by French writer Alfred Jarry.

Pere Ubu’s music exploited new technology, and in the 1990s the band released hybrid CD-ROMs that blended music, video, and text. Signing with smaller record labels seemed to inspire the group, and Ray Gun Suitcase (1995) and Pennsylvania (1998) were viewed by many as worthy additions to the band’s critically acclaimed oeuvre.Later albums included St. Arkansas (2002); Long Live Père Ubu!
22 de sept. de 2022 · This compilation of those demos and live takes was released by Smog Veil in 2002. “Life Stinks,” “30 Seconds Over Tokyo,” and “Final Solution” became Pere Ubu songs after the dissolution of Rockets, while the Dead Boys ran off to New York with “Sonic Reducer,” “What Love is,” “Ain’t It Fun,” and “Down in Flames.”.

Pere Ubu's line up on 20 Years In a Montana Missile Silo (Cherry Red, 2017) was: David Thomas on vocals, Robert Wheeler on electronic keyboards, Michele Temple on bass, Steve Mehlman on drums and rotating guitarists (mainly Keith Moline'). The album contains a lively reprise of their "modern dance" in Monkey Bizness, as well as the punkish rock'n'roll of Red Eye Blues and Swampland.
