Massachusetts has a bicameral state legislature, collectively known as the Massachusetts General Court. It is made of the 160-seat Massachusetts House of Representatives and the 40-seat Massachusetts Senate. The Massachusetts Democratic Party holds large supermajorities in both houses.
As of 2023, the Secretary of the Commonwealth listed three officially recognized political parties and 30 officially recognized political designations in Massachusetts.

The Democratic State Committee is composed of over 400 Democrats from Massachusetts’ 40 senatorial districts, caucus representatives, add-on members, and Party officials. They are instrumental to electing Democrats from the State House to the White House, and help determine the direction of our party.
