Kris is a human Lightner and the main protagonist of Deltarune. They are presumably the human Hero of Light in the Prophecy. In a Dark World, they function as the party's leader. Kris is controlled by the player for the majority of the game.

Every time you seal a dark fountain in Deltarune, your character gains 'Guts' IIRC. Its been theorized that 'Guts' are what allow characters to resist the player (or whatever's controlling them ingame)'s control. Kris, after sealing the first dark fountain, is able to remove the player.
