A lovely documentary told through animation about the life and art of Hokusai. While far from a household name in the West, Hokusai was legendary to the Japanese for his amazingly well-crafted wood cuts. His most famous involves a highly stylized wave, though in his lifetime he made an absolutely huge number of prints.
A parallax animation of Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock print, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa." Music is an excerpt of Movement three, Dialogue du vent et de la mer, from Debussy's La Mer performed by the US Air Force Band. Animation was made myself using Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
