She's the author of Becoming One: Religion, Development, and Environmentalism in a Japanese NGO in Myanmar (University of Hawai'i Press, 2019), and several articles on development, NGOs, and aid work.

Chika won the 2021 Faculty of Humanities Outstanding Teaching Award. And so we've asked Chika to come along and join us today, just to talk a little bit about her outstanding teaching and to find out sort of what makes that teaching outstanding and the secret of her success.
Bio — Patchwork Ethnography. About. Patchwork Ethnography is a research and pedagogy project led by Gökçe Günel and Chika Watanabe. The project seeks to challenge the ways we practice and teach ethnography while offering methodological innovations.
