As Utzon himself explained, this idea arose at a beach in Hawaii when, lying on the sand, he observed light passing through a group of clouds. Besides its symbolic character and aesthetic properties, this surprising vault reflects sound and achieves excellent acoustics.
Bagsværd Church is a Lutheran church in Bagsværd on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. Designed in 1968 by Jørn Utzon, it was completed in 1976.

23 de ene. de 2021 · Designed by Jørn Utzon in the 70s, the Bagsvaerd Church is a masterpiece of contemporary religious architecture. It is characterized by a white concrete ceiling straddled with softly rounded vaulting that modulates the bright interior lighting.
It was a small community in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, the church was very important and special for the community since it was the first church built in the community after the 16th century. The architect, Jørn Utzon, respected the need for a religious sanctuary.
Stepping inside, one is greeted by a flood of light and a visual poetry of soft shapes and edgy curves in the building, designed by world renowned Danish architect Jørn Utzon. The white concrete roof undulates over the space like drifting clouds, a continuous source of inspiration for many of Utzon's architectural creations.
