Designed in collaboration with James Corner Field Operations and Piet Oudolf, the High Line is a 1.5–mile long public park built on an abandoned elevated railroad stretching from the Meatpacking District to the Hudson Rail Yards in Manhattan.
The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated linear park, greenway, and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. The High Line's design is a collaboration between James Corner Field Operations, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf.
The High Line was built in 1930 to eliminate the dangers posed by the transport of goods in the streets of Manhattan. This railway line delivered milk, meat, raw materials and manufactured goods in the loading dock that had the stores and factories in the upper echelons.
