Soundgarden fue una banda estadounidense de rock alternativo formada en Seattle, Washington, en 1984 por el vocalista Chris Cornell, el bajista Hiro Yamamoto y el guitarrista Kim Thayil. Matt Cameron se unió al grupo como batería permanente en 1986 y Ben Shepherd se convirtió en reemplazo definitivo de Yamamoto en 1990.
As one of the first bands to record for the legendary Sub Pop Records, Soundgarden is generally regarded as one of the founding fathers of grunge, even though most of their work was of a far more rock/metallic nature than the likes of Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, or Nirvana.
