Thomas. The icon of Apostle Thomas typically depicts him holding a builder’s square or a spear, as he was believed to be a builder before he became a disciple of Jesus. The square is also a symbol of the building of faith and the measuring of truth.
Orthodox apostle icons depict the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, who accompanied Him throughout His earthly path. One of the holy apostles was St. Thomas. He is also called the “Doubting Thomas” because he distrusted the true nature of Christ as he met Him after the Resurrection.
