Norberg-Hodge is a co-founder of the International Forum on Globalization and the Global Ecovillage Network. She was a founding member of the International Commission on the Future of Food and Agriculture, launched with the support of the government of Tuscany, and was previously on the editorial board of The Ecologist magazine.
Linguist, author and film maker, Helena Norberg-Hodge is the founder and director of the international non-profit organisation, Local Futures, a pioneer of the new economy movement, and the convenor of World Localization Day.
Author, film maker, linguist, and pioneer of the new economy movement. Helena’s story is a remarkable one. Born into an international family, and educated in Sweden, Germany, Austria, England and the United States, she specialized in linguistics, including studies with Noam Chomsky at MIT.
An outspoken critic of economic globalization, she was co-founder of the International Forum on Globalization, the Global Ecovillage Network and the International Alliance for Localization. Helena produced the award-winning documentary film “The Economics of Happiness”, which argues for a shift from economic globalization towards localization.
