Biografia. Nació el 12 de septiembre de 1949 en Moscú en una familia militar. Cuando era niña, Irina se enfermaba mucho,solamente, siendo niña, tuvo neumonía 11 veces. Los padres de Irina para mejorar de alguna manera la salud de su hija, llevaron a Irina a la pista de hielo.
