Gale William McGee (March 17, 1915 – April 9, 1992) was a United States senator of the Democratic Party, and United States ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS). He represented Wyoming in the United States Senate from 1959 until 1977.

The Gale W. McGee Papers were donated to the American Heritage Center by Senator McGee and the McGee family in installments beginning in December 1976 until 2022. The papers arrived in fair to excellent condition and in good order.
Gale McGee (1915-1992) was a Wyoming U.S. senator who served from 1959 to 1977. Originally from Nebraska, he received his Ph. D. in history from the University of Chicago in 1946 and began teaching American history at the University of Wyoming.
