The Royal Teens were an American rock and roll band that formed in New Jersey in 1956 and originally consisted of Bob Gaudio on piano, Tom Austin on drums, Billy Dalton on guitar, and Billy Crandall on saxophone.
The Royal Teens hailed from Fort Lee, New Jersey, and were originally made up of Bob Gaudio (piano), Tom Austin (drums), Bill Crandall (sax) and Billy Dalton (guitar). In the summer of 1957, they were signed to Power Records, owned by Lee Silver.

Bill Crandle, Bill Dalton, Tom Austin, and Bob Gaudio formed the original band, known as the Royal Tones, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, in 1957. Crandle (Crandell) left the band and was replaced on sax by Larry Qualiano, and in 1958, Joe Francovilla (aka Joey Villa) joined the line-up as singer.
