Located in the heart of the theater district in Manhattan, Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) was created in 1990 to meet the needs of two groups of students – those demonstrating a strong talent and passion for the performing arts and those who were pursuing professional work in the arts.
The program offers classes to middle school, Drama and Musical Theater students. School of American Ballet SAB alumni fill the ranks of the New York City Ballet and other leading U.S. and international ballet companies.

The M.F.A. in Acting is a rigorous three-year training program, led by a faculty of working theater practitioners. A class of ten is admitted once every three years, and each student is closely mentored by a faculty committed to individual student growth.

Plays, musicals, cabaret skits, improvisation—Academy children get many opportunities to shine in the spotlight and back stage. Performance is not an extra-curricular activity at Academy but an essential part of a student’s personal and academic growth, teaching accountability and instilling confidence in their talents.
The King Arts Complex offers professional quality performing arts opportunities for students studying dance, music, and theater. Students are encouraged to express themselves, emphasizing creativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes and skills.
