Lookout for Hope is the eighth solo album by dobro player Jerry Douglas, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music). It reached number 5 on the Billboard Top New Age chart. The title piece was written by guitarist Bill Frisell who released an album with the same title in 1988.
Irish vocalist Maura O'Connell, one of whose CDs Douglas produced, appears in the tasteful arrangement. <<>> The album's title track, Lookout for Hope is a kind of acoustic jam, the 10-minute long piece written by jazz guitarist Bill Frisell, with whom Douglas did an album.
Maura O'Connell (born 16 September 1958) is an Irish singer. She is known for her contemporary interpretations of Irish folk songs, strongly influenced by American country music.
While the Dobro will immediately grab your attention, Maura O’Connell’s voice on "Footsteps Fall" is beautifully recorded, as is Taylor’s. In fact, the vocals are so well recorded, I wish there were more of them on this album.

It is the type of record that heralds the emergence of a superstar. Featuring a cover of Duane Allman's "Little Martha", the Bill Frisell-penned title track and six originals. With guests James Taylor, Trey Anastasio (PHISH), Maura O'Connell, Sam Bush, The Crickets.
As the album is so new to me I haven't had the time to establish favourites although the tracks 'Footsteps Fall' with Maura O'Connell vocals and 'Lookout For Hope, the title track stand out. another good one is 'The Suit' featuring James Taylor vocals.
