Exile's Gate is a 1988 fantasy novel by American writer C. J. Cherryh. It is the fourth of four books comprising The Morgaine Stories, chronicling the deeds of Morgaine, a woman consumed by a mission of the utmost importance, and her chance-met companion, Nhi Vanye i Chya.
Exile's Gate begins with two riders and a world gate. One is dark and rides a pale horse, the other, pale on a grey horse. It ends the same way. This is the doom laid on Morgaine and chosen by her companion Nhi Vanye. It is a harsh and unforgiving tale, full of exhaustion, betrayal and horror.
