The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Norwegian: Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, KHiO) is a public university college with about 600 students and 200 employees. Oslo National Academy of the Arts was established on the 1st of August 1996 through the merger of five formerly independent colleges.
Oslo National Academy of the Arts is Norway's largest college of higher education in the field of arts, with over 550 students, 200 employees and more than 900 guest teachers and teachers on short-term contracts, all of whom are leading practitioners in their own discipline.
This guide is for international students coming to study at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. After six years, our Artistic Director is pursuing new opportunities as Dean of the Academy of Fine Art, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, starting August 2024. Since August 2018, Antonio Cataldo’s programme has emphasised how artistic photography plays an essential role in society.
