Jonathan Leshnoff's two-movement trio is entirely tonal and accessible yet draws on some of Brahms' solutions regarding the texture.
Berkeley begins his Trio with an angular statement in fourths from the horn, a distinctive motif soon taken up by the violin, then the piano. The three enjoy a lively and characterful debate, with several more distinctive themes, before the movement subsides
