David Henry Thomsett, conocido como David Clayton-Thomas, es un cantante y guitarrista de rock y pop, canadiense de origen británico Reino Unido, nacido en Surrey (Reino Unido), el 13 de septiembre de 1941, aunque se trasladó muy pequeño a Toronto.
His first public show was in '63 at Toronto's Bluenote Club at the age of 18, under the stage name 'Sonny Thomas.' But within a year, he'd changed his name to David Clayton-Thomas, and his band Boom Boom had changed their name to The Fabulous Shays, then simply The Shays.
