Shannon Farmer was co-founder with Mr Mel Jeisman of Australia’s first comprehensive blood conservation program in 1990 at Fremantle Kaleeya Hospital, Western Australia. Until 2005 he held the appointment at the hospital as Coordinator, Blood Conservation Program in Medicine and Surgery.
This month sees the official global release of Blood Works: An Owner’s Guide by Dr Shannon Farmer, Dr Irwin Gross and Dr Aryeh Shander. The 456-page book is produced by a collective of 48 leading international medical experts.
