Henry Cyril Paget (1875-1905) succeeded the title of the 5th Marquess of Anglesey and inherited Plas Newydd in 1898 along with about £110,000 a year, which is the equivalent of about £18-£20 million today [1]. He renamed it ‘Anglesey Castle’ and spared no expense in making it his own.
Marquess of Anglesey is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1815 for Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, a hero of the Battle of Waterloo, second in command to the Duke of Wellington.

The peer was known as ‘The Dancing Marquess’ because of his love of theatrics and performing, and frequently donned feminine clothing for “sinuous, sexy, snake-like dances”.
