Beginning in 1985 U.S. News and World Report consistently rated Villanova as one of the top universities in the United States, while its graduates distinguished themselves in many walks of life.

  6. One of the most profound changes occurred in 1968, Villanova elected their first non-Catholic, Sidney Wolgin, to the board of trustees. This was a significant change to a 120-year charter dictating only Roman Catholics could sit on the board of trustees.
