SAVE has been campaigning for historic buildings since its formation in 1975 by a group of architectural historians, journalists and planners. SAVE is a strong, independent voice in conservation, free to respond rapidly to emergencies and to speak out loud for the historic environment.

Save Britain's Heritage (styled as SAVE Britain's Heritage and also known as just SAVE) is a British charity, created in 1975 by a group of journalists, historians, architects, and planners to campaign publicly for endangered historic buildings.
We compared the heritage scores on the Heritage Index for all 325 English districts with statistics which measure how much built-up land they contain, relative to countryside. We found that neither urban nor rural areas are more likely to score better or worse.
