Mazhar Ali Khan (1917 – 1993) was a Pakistani socialist intellectual and a veteran journalist. He was the editor of The Pakistan Times in the 1950s, when it was considered a 'progressive' newspaper.
Mazhar Ali Khan was a late-Mughal era, 19th century painter from Delhi, working in the Company style of post-Mughal painting under Western influence. He was active from 1840, and is known for his noted work of topographical paintings commissioned by Sir Thomas Metcalfe 's, Delhi Book .

This painting marks the debut of the artist Mazhar ‘Ali Khan, the first purely topographical artist known from late Mughal Delhi. He is an artist for whom difficult viewpoints held no terrors, and who was obviously prepared to visit actual sites to make sketches rather than rely on earlier artists’ work.
