The University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is the liberal arts and sciences school of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Established in 1841, the college is home to both the University of Michigan Honors Program and Residential College.
Use the list below to get more information on majors, minors, and the departments and programs that administer them. In addition to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science programs listed below, the College offers a Bachelor in General Studies (BGS).
In 1841, the university held its first classes in Ann Arbor with a handful of students, featuring a curriculum rooted in literature, science, and the arts—a revolutionary approach that viewed the world through many lenses instead of just one.
College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Today, with more than 100 degree programs in over 75 academic departments and programs, LSA is the largest of U-M’s 19 schools and colleges.
To qualify for a degree from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, a student must complete a minimum 120 credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C). A minimum of 60 credits towards degree must be completed in residence.
