Loudon Snowden Wainwright III (born September 5, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter and occasional actor. He has released twenty-six studio albums, four live albums, and six compilations.

Actor: Big Fish. Loudon Snowden Wainwright III was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to Martha Taylor, a yoga teacher, and Loudon Wainwright II, longtime editor of Life Magazine. LWIII eschewed magazines in favor of folk music, which he began playing professionally in the '60s.
Born in Chapel Hill, N.C. in 1946, Loudon Wainwright III came to fame when “Dead Skunk” became a Top 20 hit in 1972. He had studied acting at Carnegie-Mellon University, but dropped out to partake in the Summer of Love in San Francisco, and wrote his first song in 1968 (“Edgar,” about a lobsterman in Rhode Island).
