Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No. 7 in B ♭ major, Op. 83 (occasionally called the "Stalingrad") [citation needed] is a sonata for solo piano, the second of the three "War Sonatas", composed in 1942. The sonata was first performed on 18 January 1943 in Moscow by Sviatoslav Richter. Performances of this sonata can last anywhere from 17 to about 20 minutes.
