Lleyton Glynn Hewitt AM (born 24 February 1981) is an Australian former world No. 1 tennis player. He is the most recent Australian man to win a major singles title, at the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon Championships.

Lleyton Glynn Hewitt was a screaming, fist-pumping, chest-thumping firebrand on court. “C’mon!” he yelled at himself, finding inspiration in his obsession with the movie “Rocky” about an underdog boxer. At 5-foot-11, he was a solid 170 pounds.
After overcoming a tenacious Andy Roddick in a tumultuous five set quarterfinal and eliminating two-time major singles victor Yevgeny Kafelnikov in the penultimate round, Hewitt saved his best for last, defeating Sampras 7-6 (4), 6-1, 6-1 for his first major title in singles.
