The DBA is a structured route to doctoral-level achievement. The initial pre-thesis modular element lasts 12 months, after which you present your formal research plan. You then enter the thesis phase, which lasts a minimum of a further 24 months. At its conclusion, you present and defend a thesis in a viva voce exam.
Students applying for health and social care courses may be eligible for the NHS Learning Support Fund, which provides a non-repayable training grant of £5,000 per academic year, plus an additional £2,000 for students who have parental responsibility. An additional £1,000 allowance is available for students studying a specialist subject.
