Grace Hopper foi à Hartridge School em Plainfield, Nova Jersei. Foi inicialmente rejeitada no processo de admissão no Vassar College aos 16 anos (suas notas em latim eram baixas), sendo admitida no ano seguinte. Graduou-se em 1928 como bacharel em Matemática e Física e, em 1930, concluiu seu mestrado na Yale University.
Hopper was born in 1906 in New York City. Curious by nature, she studied mathematics at Vassar College, having been admitted there at 17. She graduated with a BA in mathematics and physics, and went on to earn a master’s degree at Yale University in 1930.

3 de dic. de 2014 · America’s entry into World War II offered her a way to change her life. During the following 18 months, she quit Vassar, divorced her husband, and at age 36 joined the U.S. Navy. She was sent to the Naval Reserve Midshipmen’s School at Smith College in Massachusetts, and in June 1944 graduated first in her class as Lt. Grace Hopper.
